Thebaseball team lost on Thursday to Mansfield 5-2. The Bulldogs kept a one-run lead throughout most of the game until the fifth inning, but Canton could not follow up with more runs.
The scored first at the top of the second with junior Andrew Vinciguerra batting in Matthew Potts on a line drive. Mansfield answered back with a run in the bottom of the third, but Canton scored again in the fifth.
Canton's TJ Duggan hit a single to get an RBI, gaining a tentative lead over Mansfield at 2-1. At the top of the fourth, Brady caught a ground ball and turned it into a quick double play to stem any further Canton runs.

The bottom of the fifth saw a distinct change in Mansfield’s hitting. Outfielder Steve Nagle bunted in the first pitch of the inning to get on base, and Junior David Eberhart hit a double to right field, putting two runners in scoring position. Then Nick Carafa hit a triple to left field to bring two runs and give Mansfield the lead at 3-2.
Mansfield batted in two more runs to cement their lead. In the next two innings Mansfield’s pitcher Tom Brady only allowed one hit, and then dove to catch a ground ball to get Canton's Chris Camarrata out at first.

“We need to practice everything,” Head Coach Junior Medina said. “We’ve got a lot of new guys here, so we’re going to go over the basics.”
