On Sunday, November 10th, join museum director Amy Montague and curatorial volunteer Julianne Mehegan from 2-3:30pm to explore the photography in Mass Audubon’s art collection. A wide range of work will be shown, including the glass plate negatives of William Brewster (c. 1895) and Edwin Hale Lincoln’s exceedingly rare platinum prints of American orchids (1931). We’ll also look at the work of some contemporary photographers, including Dorothy Monnelly’s large-format silver gelatin landscapes of the Great Marsh, Joseph Scheer’s 4-foot-long digital images of moths, and the wildlife photography of Brian Skerry, Chris Linder and Kevin Schafer. Participants are limited to 12 and registration is required, so you will have the opportunity to see the art up-close, ask questions, and hear stories about the photographers and how their works came to the collection. $15 for Mass Audubon members /$18 for non-members.
Registration required. Visit www.massaudubon.org/maba or call the Museum of American Bird Art at 781-821-8853.
