New Musical Production: Alone by Salvation Army Youth

SALVATION ARMY YOUTH PUT ON MUSICAL: ALONE

New FREE family-friendly theatrical production based on the life of the Old Testament prophet, Elijah, shares wisdom for today’s youth and adults.

CANTON, MA (May 16, 2013) – The Salvation Army is presenting a free live performance of a new musical, "Alone," which tells the story of Elijah, a man who willingly stood - alone - for what was right.

This production features teens and young adults from Salvation Army congregations throughout Massachusetts.  Many of these kids come from tough situations – and are surprised to be playing a part in such a huge production. But, because they are active in The Salvation Army’s ongoing music and arts training programs, they're getting experience in every part of the storytelling – both on and offstage. Some are acting, singing, and dancing. Others are involved in video production, sound, lighting, photography and video recording.  Still others will be working alongside our adult instructors with the set, props, and costumes.

As they memorized dialogue and learned the melodies, they’ve discovered the powerful message of Elijah’s story: we are NOT alone. 

The public is welcome to attend the performance this Saturday, May 18, at the Coakley Middle School in Norwood at 7:30pm.  Doors open at 7:00pm. Admission is free.
