Canton Fireworks Delayed Due to Safety Concerns
Monday night's fireworks celebration had a 25-minute delay.
Canton's had a delay last night due to safety concerns. The had to stop the festivities because crowds were too close to the show, and several audience members left before the grand finale.
"The audience on the upper baseball field was being exposed to falling debris," Canton Fire Chief Charles Doody said. "I made the decision to stop the show until they could be relocated to a safer location on the lower field."
With 200 spectators at the having to be moved, there was a 25-minute pause in the fireworks show.

After the delay, the "resumed and were completed safely," Doody said.
The chief said it was a tough decision to make and "some people left but I could not risk anyone being burned by falling embers."
