Canton High Winter Sports Tryout Deadline

CANTON, MA — Registration deadline is Sunday for Canton High athletes to be able to participate in the first day of tryouts for the winter sports season on Dec. 2 . Anyone interested in trying out for a winter athletic program must be registered by a parent or guardian prior to doing so. Online registration can be done on the Canton High athletics website.

Girls ice hockey tryouts will begin on Dec. 2 at the Canton Ice Hose. All juniors, seniors, returning varsity players and will be skating at 6 a.m. after a pre-tryout locker room meeting at 5:50 a.m. Non-varsity returning freshmen and sophomores will skate at 3 p.m. with a pre-tryout locker room meeting at 2:50. Individual assignments for the remainder of the week will be announced daily at tryouts.

Girls basketball tryouts will be Dec. 2 from 6:30 to 8:30 at the Canton High gym. On Dec. 3 tryouts will be split from 6:30 to 8:30 at the Canton High gym with freshmen going 3:30 to 5 at the Galvin Gym.

Boys basketball tryouts will be Dec. 2. Freshman will practice from 2:45 to 4:30 following a meeting in Room 123 for paperwork. Sophomores, juniors and seniors will meet at 4 p.m. in Room 123 before warmups and practice from 4:30 to 6:30.

The first wrestling practice of the season will be Dec. 2 in the Rodman Gym from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Everyone is asked to bring athletic attire (shorts, sweatpants, T-shirt) along with running shoes and wrestling shoes (if you have them). There are no tryouts – all those willing to work hard are invited to be on the team.

Gymnastics practice and skill assessment will start Dec. 2 from 2:45 to 4:15 at the Metro-South Gymnastics Academy on Revere Street. On-time arrival and appropriate gymnastics attire is required.

Boys and girls track will meet in the Rodman Gym at 3:10 on Dec. 2. The first practices will be outside – so dress appropriately.

Boys and girls swimming will practice Dec. 2 from 4 to 5 p.m. at Randolph High. A bus will leave from Canton High at 3:10. All team members should come to the first practice prepared to swim with one-piece bathing suits, bathing caps and goggles.
