Canton Junction Ramp Work Halted Due To Lack Of Permits, Inspector Says
A state building inspector put a stop order on ramp work after Keolis allegedly failed to obtain the required permits.

CANTON, MA – A stop work order was put in place last week on the Canton Junction ramp and stair improvement project, the Town of Canton announced June 9. According to the town, a state building inspector put a halt on the project after Keolis, which operates the Commuter Rail, allegedly failed to obtain the required building permits from the state to repair the structure.
In a letter to Gov. Charlie Baker informing him of the stop work order, Town Administrator Charles Aspinwall wrote that the inspector found several code issues pertaining to Massachusetts State Building Code and the Architectural Access Board, including trip hazards, openings exceeding four inches and the buildup of water.
The stop work order will remain in place until permits can be obtained and a plan to remediate the code violations is in place. The town has not been given a time frame for completion of the remedial work, according to Aspinwall's letter.
