Canton Man Arrested in Connection with Vehicle Break-Ins

Albert Patten could face up to 27 counts of breaking and entering of a motor vehicle.

Detective John Gover of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation will be seeking criminal charges against 20-year-old Albert N. Patten of Canton, for the motor vehicle breaking and enterings that occurred Sunday and Monday of this week.

Patten was arrested overnight in Walpole for breaking into vehicles. Walpole Police were aware of the motor vehicle break-ins in Norwood from the previous night. Walpole detectives notified Detective Gover Tuesday morning.

"Detective Gover interviewed Patten earlier (Tuesday) and he has admitted to committing the break and entering’s in Norwood," Norwood Police Spokesman Kevin Grasso wrote in an email Tuesday afternoon. "Patten co-operated with the investigation and has returned all property that was reported stolen to the Norwood Police."

The investigation is continuing and Patten can face up to 27 counts of breaking and entering of a motor vehicle as well as numerous counts of larceny from a motor vehicle.

Norwood Police reported Tuesday morning that sometime between Sunday late evening and early Monday morning 27 parked vehicles were broken into on several streets in the Union Street area.

"All of the vehicles broken into had no damage done; the vehicles had been left unlocked," police spokesman Kevin Grasso wrote in an earlier statement. "The suspect(s) rummaged through the vehicle and its compartments. Most of the vehicles entered did not have any items stolen. The few that were victims of theft had items such as jewelry, coins, music discs and GPS units stolen."
