Elderly Man Complains About Canton Man's Smoking at Harvard Sq., is Allegedly Punched
Anas Elhalabi, 47, was arrested and charged with assault and battery on an elderly person, according to transit police.

CAMBRIDGE, MA — A Canton man faces charges following an alleged assault incident at the MBTA's Harvard Square station.
Anas Elhalabi, 47, was arrested and charged with assault and battery on an elderly person, according to transit police.
On Nov. 18, 2016 at about midnight, police were notified of a possible assault and battery incident at the train station. Upon arrival, the victim, a 67-year-old man, told police that he complained about a man smoking on the inbound platform. The man, identified as Elhalabi, took exception to the victim's complaint and allegedly struck him in the face with a closed fist. The victim sustained an injury to his lip and face and Elhalabi fled after the assault.

Elhalabi was taken into custody on Nov. 28. He was arraigned the next day in Cambridge District Court.
