Canton Man Pleads Guilty To Federal Gun, Coke Charges

Authorities seized drugs, a gun and ammo from Hollis Owens' home last April during an investigation into coke dealing in Framingham.

CANTON, MA – A Canton man pleaded guilty Monday in federal court to narcotics and firearm charges, months after authorities found drugs, cash, a gun and ammunition in his home. Hollis Owens, 44, will be sentenced for one count of being a felon in possession of ammunition and four counts of possession with intent to distribute cocaine.

Authorities say in spring of 2016, police investigating cocaine dealing in Framingham made several purchases from Owens. It culminated in a search of Owens' Canton home that April, where police found approximately 18 grams of crack cocaine, a loaded Smith & Wesson 9-mm handgun, 114 rounds of various caliber ammunition and a little over $1,800 in cash. Owens was prohibited from possessing a firearm due to a prior state felony conviction. He faces a sentence of no greater than 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of $250,000 for the weapons charge. The charge of possession with intent to distribute carries a sentence of no greater than 20 years in prison, five years of supervised release and a $1 million fine.
