Canton Obituary: Barbara G. Lloyd, 73

Services will be held Thursday and Friday this week.

Barbara Grace (Galbraith) Lloyd, 73 of Stoughton, formerly of Canton, passed away in Brockton on Saturday, Dec. 15. She was the beloved wife of Joseph Lloyd.

Lloyd is survived by her two loving children, Donna (Lloyd) Ayers and her husband Christopher Ayers of Stoughton and Scott G. Lloyd and his wife Grace Chandonnet also of Stoughton.

Other survivors include her seven grandchildren, Richard R. Lloyd, Morgan R. Ayers, Rhiannon E. Ayers, Liam J. Ayers, David Harmon Jr. , Cynthia Harmon, Robert Harmon, her sister Joan (Galbraith) Harmon and her late husband Jason of Arizona and several nieces and nephews.

Born May 7, 1939 in Boston, Barbara was a daughter to the late Ethyl Ruby (Simons) and Clyde H. Galbraith. She attended Stoughton Public Schools and was a graduate of Stoughton High School. She also received her Master’s Degree in education from Cambridge College. Mrs. Lloyd was employed as a Social Studies Teacher at Plymouth High School for 28 years.

She was a member of the Universalist Unitarian Church in Easton. She was also a member of the JCC/ YMCA in Stoughton where she enjoyed many 5k road races and swimming. For many years Barbara was the swimming director at Ames Pond in Stoughton. She taught both lifesaving and swimming programs ( Adapted Aquatics) on Saturday’s for many of the areas handicapped children.
Her hobbies included sports and attending her grandchildren’s music recitals, soccer games, football games, field hockey matches, tennis matches, baseball and basketball games. Barbara loved to travel and had the opportunity to visit China, Ghana, England, Belize, Turkey, Greece and many of the other U.S. states.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, Dec. 20 from 5–7:30 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 8 p.m. in the Sheehan Funeral Home, 115 Monk St., Stoughton.

A graveside service will be held on Friday Dec. 21 at 10:30 a.m. in Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. NOTE: FUNERAL PROCESSION TO LEAVE FUNERAL HOME AT 10:15 A.M.
