Braintree
Jury finds Marshfield man guilty of negligent driving
Sean J. McGrath, 47, of 61 Ohio St., Marshfield, was found not guilty by a jury in Quincy District Court of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs as a second offense and not guilty of possession of Clonazepam. But the jury found McGrath guilty of negligent operation of a motor vehicle, though not responsible for speeding.
A judge sentenced him to a year in the Norfolk County House of Correction, suspended, and probation until June 14, 2013 on the guilty finding. The charges stem from a Nov. 23, 2010 incident on Route 93 in Braintree at 6:35 p.m. when police came upon two vehicles stopped in the left lane at the Braintree split after an accident. McGrath told police he had taken insulin four hours prior to the accident. Police searched the vehicle and found a cut straw and a prescription bottle with one tablet of 1 mg Clonazepam inside.
Larceny case continued to January
Jorge Alvarado, 33, of 4 Fern St., 2nd Floor, Lawrence, had a charge of larceny over $250 continued to Jan. 30 for a hearing in Quincy District Court. The charge stems from a Oct. 13 incident in Braintree at 2:40 p.m. at the South Shore Plaza where Alvarado is accused of stealing several women's shirts. A judge released him on personal recognizance.
Randolph man dodges hearing in court, arrest warrant issued
Antoine Jackson, 24, of 49 Highland Glen Drive, Apt. 601, Randolph, had a default warrant for his arrest issued after he failed to appear in Quincy District Court on a charge of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. The charge stems from a Jan. 14 incident in Braintree at 6:05 p.m. when police said Jackson's recently purchased 1998 Suburu Legacy was sideswiped by a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado on Granite Street. Jackson was unable to produce a driver's license and was placed under arrest, police said in the incident report.
Milton
Mattapan driver faces charge of being a habitual traffic offender
Torrey M.Etheridge, 29, of 53 Westmore Road, Mattapan, had charges of operating a motor vehicle as a habitual traffic offender and a motor vehicle lights violation continued to Jan. 25 for a hearing.

The charges stem from a Dec. 1 incident in Milton at 10:45 p.m. when police stopped a vehicle on Blue Hill Avenue for having no brake light. Police said they could detect a strong odor of burnt marijuana inside the vehicle and that Etheridge stated that a marijuana "roach" she had smoked lay in the ash tray. Police determined her license had been revoked and arrested her.
