Canton

Assault and battery case scheduled for trial in January

Paul Shannon, 27, of 508 B Sherman St., Apt. 28, Canton, had charges of assault and battery, witness intimidation, and larceny under $250 continued to Jan. 9 for a bench trial in Stoughton District Court.

The charges stem from a Aug. 12 incident in Canton at 4 p.m. when police responded to a report of a dispute at Shannon's address involving an argument over money. Shannon and the female victim allegedly struggled, and during the confrontation he allegedly almost knocked over a baby swing with the child still in it. The victim reported the alleged batterer took her cell phone and $240.

Canton man accused of assault and battery to stand trial

Stephen N. Gichohi, 27, of 53 Will Drive, in Canton had a charge of assault and battery continued to Jan. 17 for a bench trial in Stoughton District Court.

The charge stems from a March 19 incident in Canton at 11:20 p.m. when police responded to a report of an assault. The female victim had blood dripping from the nose and mouth. Police, in the incident report, said the altercation began with the two arguing. Gichohi then allegedly punched the woman in the back of the head and slammed her head against a wall, breaking her front teeth. He then fled the scene.

Case of marijuana possession continued without guilty finding

Connor J. Coyle, 21, of 16 Martin Terrace, Randolph, had a charge of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute continued without a guilty finding in Stoughton District Court.

The charge stems from a Oct. 11, 2010 incident in Canton at 2:50 p.m. when police traveling behind a white Honda car on Washington Street detected the odor of burnt marijuana coming from it. The vehicle then made an abrupt turn onto Hickory Lane without flashing a turn signal. Police then stopped the vehicle. Asked if he had drugs inside the vehicle, Coyle allegedly responded, "I do." On the rear passenger seat police allegedly found a glassine baggie filled with smaller glassine baggies containing marijuana. Police seized $570 in cash, according to the police report.

Braintree

Case of man who allegedly rubbed buttocks of intoxicated man in public continued for hearing

John M. Lacoy, 27, of 429 Winthrop St., Winthrop, had charges of possession of adderall, a Class C drug, and indecent assault and battery on a person over the age of 14 continued to Jan. 13 for a hearing in Quincy District Court.

The charges stem from a July 8 incident in Braintree at 3 p.m. when police responded to the playground area on McCusker Drive for a report of two allegedly drunk men causing a disturbance. Police found one of the suspects lying on his back apparently passed out. Lacoy also appeared "extremely intoxicated," police said in the report. During the investigation, police determined that Lacoy allegedly pulled down the other man's pants and began to "massage his bare behind" as the man lay unconscious. 

Larceny cases continued for hearings in January

Rosa H. Abreu, 31, of 36 Hoover Ave., Apt. 1, Brockton, had charges of larceny over $250 and malicious destruction of property continued to Jan. 26 for a hearing in Quincy District Court.

The charges stem from a June 13 incident in Braintree at 9 p.m. when police responded to the Hollister store at the South Shore Plaza for a report of two female shoplifters being detained by store loss prevention. According to the police incident report, store detectives observed Abreu and an accomplice, Antonia M. Antunes, 20, of 92W Chestnut St., Brockton, allegedly select clothing, remove the security sensors, and conceal the items upon exiting the store. Store detectives allegedly recovered $283.50 worth of clothing from Abreu's purse, $135 of which was damaged by removing the sensors. Recovered from Antunes was $89.50 worth of merchandise, $15.50 of which was damaged by removing the sensors. She is due back in court for a hearing on Jan. 26.

Quincy man charged with shoplifting ditches court hearing

David A. Arrufat, 22, of 53 Parkhurst St., Quincy, had a default warrant issued for his arrest after he failed to appear in Quincy District Court regarding a charge of shoplifting by aspiration.

The charge stems from a June 16 incident in Braintree at 8:30 p.m. when police responded to Champs at the South Shore Plaza for a report of a tall white male who ran out of the store with a pair of $145 Nike sneakers without paying for them.

Alleged hit-and-run driver due back in court in January

Leanne B. Aupperlee, 24, of 241 Center St., Quincy, had charges of possession of Clonazapam, a Class C drug, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol continued to Jan. 19 for a hearing in Quincy District Court.

The charges stem from a Oct. 17 incident in Braintree at 9:27 p.m. when police responded to a report of a hit-and-run accident at the intersection of Granite and Pond streets. The driver of the other vehicle complained of a neck injury. Police stopped Aupperlee's brown SUV in the Granite town area and detected an odor of alcohol on her breath. Aupperlee allegedly told police she had consumed seven beers the previous night.

Drugged driving case continued without a guilty finding

Nicholas J. Bertoni, 26, of 66 Nicholson Drive, Brockton, had a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs continued in Quincy District Court to Nov. 16, 2012 without a guilty finding.

The incident stems from a June 18, 2010 incident in Braintree. Police allege that a white dump truck being driven by Bertoni nearly struck the sidewalk on Liberty Street, then quickly turned back into the travel lane. Police stopped the vehicle and confiscated a marijuana pipe, rolling papers, and two grinders next to the front seat, including a 12-pack of Bud Light beer. Police administered field sobriety tests and then arrested Bertoni on suspicion of being under the influence of drugs.

Alleged bank robber back in court in January

Joseph J. Conner, 27, of 29 Kennedy Road, Kingston, had charges of unarmed robbery and larceny over $250 continued to Jan. 3 for a probable cause hearing in Quincy District Court.

The charges stem from a Aug. 14 incident in Braintree following a report of a robbery at the Citizens Bank, 865 Washington St. The suspect fled on foot after passing a note to a teller demanding money in various denominations. The suspect did not show a weapon or threaten the teller, police said in the incident report. Following a joint investigation with the FBI, authorities were able to identify Conner as a suspect.

Medford man charged in Lottery scam fails to show up for hearing

Phuc V. Le, 41, of 345 Salem St., Medford, had a default warrant issued for his arrest after he failed to appear in Quincy District Court on a charge of larceny over $250. The charge stems from a March 9 incident at Le's Convenience Store in Braintree. According to court records, Le allegedly scanned a winning $1,000 ticket for a customer, then told the customer the ticket didn't win anything.

Assault and battery case to go to jury trial

Ryan P. Haley, 32, of 145 Willard St., Quincy, had two counts of assault and battery continued to Feb. 8 for a jury trial in Quincy District Court. The charges stem from a June 18 incident in Braintree at 10:45 p.m. when police responded to a report of an assault at 33 Harrison Ave. The victim stated Haley allegedly punched her with a close fist and bit her on the arm before leaving the residence.

Jury to decide case of woman charged with drugged driving

Kim Kazantis, 49, of 550 Liberty St., Apt. 2501, Braintree, had a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs continued to Jan. 9 for a jury trial in Quincy District Court. The charge stems from a June 18 incident in Braintree at 4:41 p.m. when police responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on Liberty Street. Police said Kazantis allegedly drove onto the sidewalk before striking another vehicle from behind, according to the police incident report. Police found two prescriptions inside Kazantis's vehicle, Alprazolam 2 mg tablets, and Amphetamine Salts 30 mg.

Case continued for alleged college tagger

Rodolfo C. Casulli, 24, of 86 Rockland St., Canton, had four counts of vandalizing property continued to Dec. 27 in Stoughton District Court.

The charges stem from an incident at Massasoit Community College in Canton where Casulli is alleged to have placed graffiti stickers and permanent marks in numerous restrooms on campus. The college reported the expense for cleaning and removal and the cost of restroom maintenance as a result of the acts, according to the police incident report. The graffiti stickers were apparent advertisements of a website.
