Canton Police Respond to Suspicious Package at Bank Today

A call came in at 9:05 a.m. for the 259 Turnpike Street branch for a "suspicious item in the waste paper basket that was ticking," Canton Police Lt. Helena Findlen said.
Canton Police and the State Police Bomb Squad responded to the scene.

The item was determined not to be an explosive, she said.
"Our initial indication is it appeared to be a Huggies wipe box with one of those batteries that go into a greeting card," she said. "It seems like it was an innocent discard of trash at this time."
