Hello Canton Families,

As the new school year approaches, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and the Department of Public Health (DPH) are encouraging anyone eligible to get vaccinated.

Find out what's happening in Cantonfor free with the latest updates from Patch.

Evidence shows COVID-19 vaccines are not only highly effective, but also serve as the strongest strategy in reducing the impact of COVID-19 on the continuity of in-person learning. Our vaccination rates will be a key metric moving forward. Currently, 82 percent of 16-19 year olds are vaccinated and 53 percent of 12-15 year olds are vaccinated.

In an effort to make the vaccine available to our families, Canton Public Schools is pleased to announce we will be hosting a Mobile COVID Vaccine Clinic, in partnership with Brewster Ambulance Services, on Tuesday August 17, 2021, from 4:00-7:00 pm.

  • Location:  Rodman Gymnasium

  • Eligibility: Students aged 12-22 years and their parents/caregivers.

  • Requirement:  Children aged 12 through 17 years must be accompanied by an adult age 18 or older along with a signed consent form to receive the vaccine.

  • Cost:  None.  Brewster Ambulance will be requiring insurance card information for anyone with insurance. There are no co-payments necessary with insurance.  If you are uninsured you will still receive the vaccine for free.

  • Vaccine:  Pfizer. The second dose is to be administered on September 9, 2021, 4:00-7:00 pm at the second Vaccine Clinic in the Rodman Gymnasium.

  • Registration:  Please sign up for an appointment time HERE.

  • Consent:  Forms are below, please fill out both forms for children under age 17 and bring the hard copies with you to the clinic.

  • Please note:  Anyone 18 and older only needs to fill out the Brewster Consent form.

    • The COVID-19 vaccine is not a requirement of Canton Public Schools.  The clinic is entirely optional for Canton students and caregivers, offered as a convenient and accessible site for families desiring the COVID-19 vaccination.

If you are unable to attend the clinic and wish to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, please see the links listed below to local pharmacies offering appointments, or go to VaxFinder.mass.gov to find another site offering the vaccine.

We are excited to be able to offer this COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic for students and their parents/caregivers as a strategy to stop the spread of COVID-19. We understand many parents and caregivers have questions about their children getting vaccinated.  Families are encouraged to reach out to their pediatrician to have a discussion regarding their child receiving the vaccine.

This video, COVID-19 Vaccine and Kids – Hear from the Experts, features pediatricians from our community health centers and hospitals on the importance of receiving the vaccination. More information on the vaccine through Mass.gov can also be found HERE.

Thank you for your continued support.

    Sincerely,
