Canton Resident Hosts 7th Annual CityFeast to Benefit Joslin Diabetes Center

CityFeast will raise funds for the Joslin Diabetes Center.

Canton resident Carla Gomes will once again host the annual CityFeast on January 29 at 6:00 pm. CityFeast is a unique event that supports the Joslin Diabetes Center. This fun-filled evening will be held within five of the most exclusive restaurants in Boston’s North End. The proceeds will benefit Joslin’s High Hopes Fund.

“Just about everyone will be touched with diabetes in some way during their lifetime,” said Gomes. “Diabetes afflicts 24 million Americans and is the leading cause of kidney disease, blindness, heart disease, stroke and amputations.  There is no cure.”

Gomes founded the CityFeast seven years ago as a way to give back to Joslin for all the excellent care and support her son David has received there, after he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes on his first birthday.

“Joslin Diabetes Center is grateful to Carla Gomes for her continued efforts on behalf of Joslin,” said Joslin President and CEO John L. Brooks III. “The proceeds from CityFeast will support the Center’s greatest needs in research, education and clinical care, making it possible for us to look forward to a future without diabetes.”

Carla’s two restaurants–Terramia and Antico Forno–along with Prezza, Taranta, and Tresca will be participating in the event. Tickets to the event are $150 each, of which $100 is tax-deductible. Tickets include a five-course dinner with wine pairings at the restaurant choice of the participant. Also, this year there is a raffle for a new Black Vespa S50. The Vespa was donated by Gomes.
