Canton Student to Buzz Head with Rob Gronkowski for Cancer Fundraiser

Griffin Lincoln, 11, a fifth-grade student at the John F. Kennedy School in Canton will join New England Patriot Rob Gronkowski in buzzing his head to help honor and support children who struggle with pediatric cancer.

This year marks the third annual Kid’s Cancer Buzz-Off, which takes place at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough on June 9, sponsored by the organization One Mission, a childhood cancer foundation dedicated to enhancing the lives of pediatric cancer patients and their families.

"I want the world one way, cancer-free," Griffin said. "So if I can raise money for cancer research by giving up my hair, something kids with cancer have no choice about, then it's worth it."

Griffin's mother also said he signs all his donation request letters with this saying:
"Buzzers+Donations=Hope".

Lincoln's grandfather had cancer and passed away recently. When he would go to visit his grandfather in the hospital, Lincoln couldn't get over how many children were fighting the same battle as his grandfather. Then, when he heard about the "buzz", he jumped at the opportunity to help.

This is Lincoln's second year shaving his head for the cause. He has pledged to shave his head again this year in order to show solidarity for children who have undergone pediatric cancer-related treatments.

In the last three years, the Kid's Cancer Buzz Off has raised nearly $1 million for Boston Children’s Hospital's pediatric cancer patients and their families.

Lincoln, on his own, has raised $10,000 for different organizations over the last few years, starting at age 9 with a bake sale.
