Max Lempert has a garage full of quilts, blankets and bed sheets with yet more on the way. This sizeable stockpile of linens is earmarked for the MSPCA and animals in need.
Lempert, a seventh-grade student from Galvin Middle School, is preparing for his Bar Mitzvah at the end of the month. Part of his preparation is to take on a project that helps the community.
The thirteen-year-old has always had an affection for animals; felines in particular, and says that cats have been a part of his family for as long as he can remember.

“My cats, Hoot and Zing are always there when I need them,” said Lempert. “If I’m having a bad day, just petting them makes me feel better. Pets are great companions.”
It is this love for animals that made Lempert’s choice of community service projects an easy one.

“We need to protect and care for animals,” he said.
To that end, he has been collecting bedding as well as toys and food from the community. He has also placed a donation box in Especially for Pets, a local pet store in Cobb Corner and in the Children’s Room at the Canton Public Library. Lempert is on track to collect over 100-pounds of supplies.
The MSPCA, 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is a national and international leader in animal protection and veterinary medicine and provides direct hands-on care for thousands of animals each year.
