CANTON, MA — A Stoughton Police Department sergeant has been cited for a fatal crash that took place in February.

Paul Williams was cited by State Police for misdemeanor motor vehicle homicide, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and marked lanes violation, according to Bristol County District Attorney spokesperson Gregg Miliote. He is due in Dedham District Court May 2 for a clerk magistrate hearing to determine if the charges will be issued and forwarded for arraignment.

The announcement came from the Bristol DA rather than the Norfolk County District Attorney's office to avoid the appearance of a conflict of interest.
