The Open Book Coffeehouse continues its tenth consecutive season of showcasing live, acoustic music on Saturday, October 18that 7:30 PM, with vocalist/songwriter Craig DeMelo. DeMelo plays acoustic rock, blues and soul, showcasing silky smooth vocals. SoCo Magazine notes, “DeMelo is in no short supply of talent and style. The 2010 Limelight Magazine’s male vocalist of the year, Craig DeMelo has been playing stages from coast-to-coast since 2002. He’s been to every major club in New England, opening for such national acts as Howie Day, Hootie and the Blowfish, Matchbox 20, and the Mighty Mighty Bosstones. He can belt out over 200 covers and 80 originals with equal precision, and his versatility across genres ensures there is something for everyone at his shows. Additionally his ability to create off the top of his head lyrics or “Freestyling” has become a staple in his live performance. His lyrical spontaneity (and his love of Jack Daniel’s) caused one fan to dub him “The Whiskey Poet.” Craig’s smooth voice, entertaining stage banter, and masterful guitar playing keeps fans begging for more. Craig also received an Honorable Mention in the pop category in the 2009 John Lennon Songwriting Contest for the song “So Be It.” His latest album, The Whiskey Poet, was released in 2007 on CD Baby.
