HOOT HAPPENINGS!

CANTON, MA— Live owls will headline the activities at the Hoot Happenings family event on Saturday, March 16 at the Museum of American Bird Art (MABA) at Mass Audubon.  Come visit with either a Great Horned Owl, a Barn Owl or a Screech Owl as Mass Audubon staff engage and educate visitors about these mysterious and elusive creatures. Continuing with the owl theme, there will be plenty of hands-on owl-tivities available for all ages: owl cookie decorating, owl crafts and owl games, plus special presentations of Jane Yolen’s classic children’s book, Owl Moon, in our comfortable “nest” area. Weather permitting; there will be a mini nature owl-venture on the wildlife sanctuary, so dress appropriately if you plan to join this outdoor hike.

In addition to all the special Hoot Happenings activities, visitors are welcome to explore the current art exhibition, Only Owls, which brings together paintings, drawings and prints of owls from North America, Great Britain and Japan.

All proceeds from the event support the museum’s Wild at Art Summer Camp. Our small, high quality camp connects children to nature through art. Professional artists enrich weekly themed sessions for ages 3-16. Sessions begin the last week of June and extend through August 16. MABA’s new education director, Tammis Coffin, will be on hand at Hoot Happenings to answer questions about this summer’s camp offerings.

Tickets will be available at the door, beginning at 1pm: $5 per person, with a maximum of $20 per family. The event will run rain, shine, or light snow.
