Community Corner

Quilt and Knitted Item Exhibition

On Monday, March 11, 2013, from 11am to 5pm, hand-crafted quilts and knitted items will be displayed in the Orchard Cove Independent Living Community Ballroom, 1 Del Pond Drive, Canton, MA.

This display by residents will include several hundred quilts, sweaters and caps before being sent to local hospitals, pediatric care centers and shelters to bring warmth, love and hope to infants, children and adolescents struggling with illness and poverty via Project Linus. The seniors, who have been knitting and quilting, will showcase their skills for family, friends and community members. This group of more than 30 women meets twice a month throughout the year and has won a state-wide award for their outstanding outreach effort.

This open house style exhibit will feature the handmade quilts, blankets, sweaters and caps crafted by the Orchard Cove Quilters and Knitters. The women who created these beautiful and compassionate items will be available to discuss why they volunteer for Project Linus, the importance of helping children in need and the increased sense of community gained from being in this program.
