Firefighters Knock Down Canton House Fire Within Minutes

CANTON, MA — Canton firefighters quickly extinguished a house fire on Pecunit Street Tuesday morning, Fire Chief Jamie Meier said.

The Canton Fire Department responded to 48 Pecunit St. at about 11:37 a.m. on Sept. 8. The shift commander saw flames on the exterior of the house, and firefighters knocked down the fire within several minutes.

The residents were not home at the time, and no injuries were reported.

Canton building and electrical inspectors responded to the scene. Eversource crews also assisted with an affected electrical line.

Fire departments from Stoughton, Sharon and Milton provided mutual aid at the scene. Milton and Norwood firefighters provided station coverage.

The Canton Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
