Friends of the Blue Hills Celebrate 35 Years at Annual Event on October 9
Friends of the Blue Hills offer Canton brewery tasting on Thursday, October 9, 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Fuller Village, 1372 Brush Hill Rd, Milton

The Friends of the Blue Hills will mark their 35th year at their Annual Celebration on Thursday, October 9, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Fuller Village in Milton. Tickets for the event are $35 if purchased by October 3 and $40 at the door and are available on the website www.FriendsoftheBlueHills.org/celebrate35. The evening will include hors d’oeuvres, silent auction, a beer tasting from Blue Hills Brewery in Canton, a special 35th year retrospective, and the presentation of the Community Partners Awards.
Tim Cutter of Canton was one of the first people to complete the Friends of the Blue Hills “Strive for 35 Challenge” this year. The organization challenged people to see and do 35 specific things in the Blue Hills over the course of the year. Cutter completed the challenge earlier this month and immediately purchased tickets to the Annual Celebration. “Having grown up on the fringes of the reservation, I had become familiar with the Boy Scout camp from an early age,” said Cutter. “Now fifty years later, I continue to explore the trails that had seemed so distant as a young child. I learned to ski on the Blue Hills by taking the two rope tows up the slopes. I hiked many trails with my family, and now the Strive for 35 Challenge has afforded me an opportunity to explore other unknown areas. On any given day, I continue to see something new during my walks, and this is what keeps me coming back to the Blue Hills.”
There will also be a special raffle as part of the festivities: a once-in-a-lifetime dinner for six at the top of the Blue Hills Observatory, the oldest continually operating weather observatory in the country. The winner will enjoy breathtaking views of the Boston skyline and the ocean while dining on an elegant meal catered by the popular restaurant Steel & Rye, which was recently named “Best of Boston- South” by Boston Magazine. Tickets for the raffle are $15 each or 3/$35 and can also be purchased on the Friends of the Blue Hills website.
