Canton Resident Appointed Chairman Of New England Baptist Hospital Board Of Trustees

Vice Chairman Erven Samsel replaces former chairman Richard Maloney.

New England Baptist Hospital, the premier regional provider for orthopedic surgery and the treatment of musculoskeletal diseases and disorders, today announced the appointment of Canton resident Erven “Sam” Samsel as the new chairman of its board of trustees. Samsel previously served as vice chairman of the board, and will replace outgoing chairman Richard Maloney, effective Jan. 26. In addition to Samsel, New England Baptist Hospital announced Christopher Jenny has been elected to serve as a member of its board of trustees.

“We are very fortunate to have Sam and Chris serve on our Board,” said Trish Hannon, President and CEO of New England Baptist Hospital. “Each brings unique talents and perspectives to the table, and we are confident they will help maximize our board’s effectiveness through their leadership.”

In addition to serving as chairman of the board of trustees, Samsel founded The Samsel Group, a consulting firm that serves business and the public sector, in the areas of development and execution of business strategy, leadership selection and development. Samsel is also the founder and managing member of Commonwealth Stable, LLC. Prior to forming The Samsel Group, Samsel spent 34 years at American Express Financial Advisors, formerly Investors Diversified Services, where he served as senior vice president and on its board of directors. Samsel was also the recipient of the Freedom Trail Foundation’s Patriot Award for his contributions and leadership in preserving the legacy of American History in the City of Boston.

Jenny currently serves as senior advisor to Parthenon-EY, with a long history of advising senior executives on corporate and business unit strategy. Jenny served as President and Senior Partner of the Parthenon Group for more than two decades before its acquisition by Ernst & Young LLP in August 2014. Previously, he served as a partner at Bain & Company, and served as CEO of portfolio companies for Bain Capital and The Noel Group. Jenny holds a BA in Mathematics from Dartmouth College, and an MBA with high distinction from Harvard Business School. Jenny was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve on the President’s Export Council, the nation’s premier advisory committee on international trade.
