Senate Passes Bond Bill With Authorizations for Canton

BOSTON – The Massachusetts Senate has passed the General Government Bond Bill with an amendment sponsored by Senator Brian A. Joyce that would authorize the state to potentially spend $1.5 million for construction of the Canton Senior Center and $10 million for capital improvements to the Massachusetts Hospital School in Canton which provides medical, habilitative, rehabilitative, recreational, educational and vocational services to children and young adults with multiple disabilities. Both spending authorizations will need to be included in the final version of the bill and then approved and released by the administration in the future. Representative Bill Galvin previously secured a $1.5 million authorization for the Canton Senior Center in the House version of the bill.

“These two institutions do so much for the Canton community and Bill and I will continue to advocate for these authorizations making the final version of the bill and getting released by the administration down the road,” said Joyce.

The bill also contained spending authorizations for improvements at state, health and human services, cultural, municipal, and public library facilities; accessibility upgrades at state facilities; equipment improvements for the Department of Corrections; and grants and programs for public safety investments like police cruisers, bulletproof vests and radios.
