Sharon Police Charge Two in Alleged Canton Car Theft

have charged two men with receiving a car allegedly stolen from Canton.

A friend of the vehicle's owner called 911 shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday while following the vehicle from Canton to Sharon's on South Main Street, police said today in a press release. The caller told police he knew the car was stolen Tuesday.

At the plaza, Sharon Police Officers Adam Leavitt and Michael Balestra arrested Jose Hernandez, 24, of 7 Triphammer Road, Sharon and Patrick Haines, 19, of 469 Sherman St. #2, Canton and charged both with receiving stolen property worth more than $250 (the car.)

Hernandez and Haines were held overnight Wednesday at the Sharon Police Station.

They were arraigned Thursday in Stoughton District Court.
