Canton Community Theatre presents Sweeney Todd: Demon Barber of Fleet Street

The Canton Community Theatre presents the musical thriller Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street .

Set in 19th century England, Sweeney Todd is an unjustly exiled barber who returns to London with a new name seeking vengeance against the lecherous judge who framed him, ravaged his young wife and became warden to his daughter. The road to revenge leads Todd to Mrs. Lovett, a resourceful proprietress of a failing pie shop, above which he opens a new barber practice. Mrs. Lovett’s luck sharply shifts when Todd helps her integrate an ingredient into her meat pies that has the people of London lining up to indulge themselves. Todd’s revenge leads him tragically back to his wife and daughter and as he delivers justice to his enemies, he brings about his own bloody end.

The cast includes from Canton, Antonino Ruggeri as The King of the Barbers -The Barber of Kings, Aoife Rebeka Barrington-Haber as the Beggar Woman , Dasol Lee as Tobias, David Merrigan as Sweeney Todd, Kyle Hanscom as Anthony and Nerissa Haber as the young girl. Stoughton cast members include Sarah Flanagan as Johanna and Vandy Bontemps as a Londoner. From Milton is David Palmer in the role of Beadle and Jennifer Walsh as the Bird Seller. From Dedham is Geoff Tegnell as Judge Turpin and his daughter Jenn as Clarissa the Londoner

The production will be held July 31, August 1, 7, 8, 14 & 15 at 7:30pm at The Village Shoppes at Cobbs Corner, 95 Washington Street in Canton next to the Shoe Dept, across from the Halfway Café.
