The Chubby Chickpea in Canton

Authentic Middle Eastern food with an Israeli accent.

Avi Shemtov of Canton opened in June of 2010. You can't miss its location thanks to the bright yellow awning displayed out on Washington Street.

A recent addition to the Chubby Chickpea is its truck, also in bright yellow, which travels into Boston every day and serves lunch five days a week in the financial district and Back Bay.

Shemtov said, "My father has been in the restaurant business for over 35 years and I came up with the plan to open a Middle Eastern restaurant my first year in college. Four years after graduating from college, it came to be. Owning a small business is a challenge but fun. The cool thing about it is I am my own boss so if I want to try something new I can."
