Young Lego Designers Display Their Creations in Canton
The Village Toy Shop is sponsoring a Lego window display contest this week.
Dinosaurs, spaceships, hotels and animal houses are all making an appearance at in Canton. Thanks to a group of little designers, these Lego creations are on display at the through Saturday.
From as far away as Rehoboth, the kid creators entered the Lego Window Display Contest and are hoping their Lego design wins big on Saturday. The youngsters, ages three to 14, will win a Lego set for first place and a gift card for second place. The groups are divided by age and by Lego category: Realistic Creation or Fantasy Creation.
Village Toy Shop Owner Kathy Mabry said 25 children submitted entries to the contest.

"They are so creative," Mabry said of the children's entries, which range from cranes to boats to hotels and dinosaurs to a 9/11 memorial.
A group of contestants were on hand at the toy store yesterday to talk about their designs, including Joshua Guarino, 7, of Rehoboth; Kevin Gallagher, 10, of Canton; Ronan O'Mahony, 8, of Canton; Erin McCarthy, 9, of Canton; Sabrina Puccio, 9, 0f Canton; Thomas Ricci, 6, of Stoughton; and Anthony Larkin, 9, of Canton.

Gallagher, a fourth grader at the Luce School, said he enjoyed working on his Lego creation. "As much as I can, I want to be creative," he said.
Eight-year-old O'Mahony said he was inspired to create the "Twin Towers Memorial" Lego creation after the He wanted to pay tribute to the men and women who died on September 11, he said.
And nine-year-old Puccio, a third grader at the Hansen, said she created "Squinkie World" because she loves animals. She wanted to create a home for animals, including her dolphins. "I love animals," she said.
Folks can vote for their favorite Lego entry through Saturday, May 21 at 1:00 p.m. The winners will be announced at at 3:00 p.m.
