2012 Prescription Disposal Day Trashes 1,000 Bags of Drugs

The Charlestown Substance Abuse Coalition has declared this year’s Prescription Disposal Day the most successful in the town’s history, and has thanked everyone for their participation.

In a release, the coalition said that it collected more than 1,000 bags of prescription drugs and gave them to the Boston Police Department for proper disposal.

The event was sponsored by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Bureau of Substance Abuse Services in partnership with the Boston Police Department , Massachusetts General Hospital-Dept of Pharmacy, MGH Charlestown HealthCare Center, Charlestown Chamber of Commerce-Diane Grant, Boston Public Health Commission, Charlestown Recovery House and Charlestown Against Drugs.

The event was also aided by Dunkin’ Donuts, Papa Gino’s Pizzeria, Ambiance Salon and Spa, Charlestown Nails, Grasshopper Café, Olivia Browning of Charlestown, Toni-Anns Pizza & Subs and Zume’s Cafe.
