Bunker Hill Monument Association (BHMA) President Arthur Hurley, past president John Alves, Grand Master Richard Stewart of the Grand Lodge of Masons in Massachusetts, Boston National Historical Park Superintendent Cassius Cash and General Warren descendant George Wildrick held a re-dedication of the statue of Major General Joseph Warren at the Bunker Hill Monument on Monday, June 17 immediately following the annual Bunker Hill Day Commemorative and Patriotic Exercises.
The statue, based on a portrait of Warren by Boston artist John Singleton Copley, was sculpted by Henry Dexter of Cambridgeport and was unveiled and dedicated by the BHMA on June 17, 1857. National Park Service Conservators Margaret Breuker and Carol Warner cleaned and treated the statue in October 2012, restoring its original lustre.
