Charlestown Women's Club (CWC) Partners with the Harvard-Kent Elementary School, also offers opportunities for a trip to Italy, yoga classes, volunteer opportunities, etc.
Thursday, September 20, 2012, marked the beginning of season three for the Charlestown Women's Club (CWC). The CWC has lots of great news, starting with our recent partnership with the Harvard-Kent Elementary School. The CWC hopes to provide both monetary assistance, as well as support through volunteerism, to enrich the lives and education of the school's students and to support educators working in our neighborhood.
Principal Jason Gallagher came to speak to CWC members. He explained Harvard-Kent student backgrounds and needs. At the end of the September meeting, Principal Gallagher was presented with a $500 donation on behalf of the club by CWC President Kathy "Cookie" Giordano.
The September meeting of the CWC also welcomed new members and described many member opportunities including discounted Yoga classes, a trip to Italy, and volunteer opportunities at the Harvard Kent. A representative of the Big Sisters Association of Boston also spoke about the opportunity to become a mentor to young women in Charlestown.
