A few months ago I was at a doctor's appointment for my hip that was consistently bothering me (until my consistent yoga practice) my button popped off. It was really embarrassing. I didn't notice it until a man came up to me and handed it to me. After the appointment I called my mom hysterically crying. She yelled at me and was so mad that I would be so upset over a button. She said there are worse things in life that you can't change. I completely agree but I still felt like crap.
I never through that button out. Every time I went to I stopped because it was a reminder to stay healthy. I never want to feel that way again. When chatting with a friend today and talking about motivation, I whipped out my button and told her about it. I didn't even realize how motivating it was but it reminds me every day to stay healthy.
Did people notice that I gained 5lbs? Probably not. I'm 5'7 and can carry a little extra weight, although I never want to! But I felt it. I didn't feel proud of myself and noticed I was hunching more and closing my cartigan to hide. I don't want to hide and my silly little button is a great reminded. Everyone has their own comfort level and mine is when that pair of pants fits! I through them out that night but I have a few other pairs that I wear when I am at a comfortable and proud weight.
Do you have a motivating reminder?
If so is it subtle like mine?
