Namaste, Come Play!

What's new at Charlestown Yoga

Here at Charlestown Yoga on 191 Main St. we strive to offer you a multitude of various classes so that you can choose your favorite style or mix it up during the week.  At Christie's Gentle/Restorative class, she'll take you through a relaxing flow followed by easy restorative postures at the end to wind-down.  Stick around for 5 minutes after class and hear all about a new wellness topic!  Last week she explained the differences between cage-free, organic, and free-range.  The week before that we learned that filtered tap water is much better for us than bottled water.  Sandra will put you in an amazing mood Sunday nights in her Deep Stretch class or liven you up on Mondays 6:15pm with her Heated Vinyasa flow. Karen Fabian puts the POW in Power Yoga on Sunday mornings and turns the heat up on Saturday mornings.  Prepare to leave sweaty and detoxed!  Kate and Christina have an amazing group of beginner yogi's on Mondays and Wednesdays that flourish in their practice each and every week.  We recommend signing up for Caitlyn's Vinyasa classes in advance, she sure can pack a full house. Check out Marissa and Kristy in the mornings to get your day started off right; you'll see dedicated regulars there at 6:30am every time!  New teachers Michael Mann (Vinyasa Wednesdays 6:15pm) and Shuli (Vinyasa Tuesdays Noon & Fridays at 5:30pm) are wonderful additions to the studio.  Prepare to smile and listen to amazing music in their challenging flow classes.

We are starting Yoga On The Deck outside on our finished deck, Thursday evenings in June, at 6:15pm.  Look for series (Mama & Me starts in June!), workshops and wellness nights throughout the year including fun family events.  Pajama Yoga anyone?  Check out our website for more:

Beginners is a class devoted to new students who are interested in learning the foundations of yoga or for yogis who would like to focus on the basics of active practice. This class will concentrate on breathing techniques, postures, and alignment. Learn how to unite your breath with movement to create strength, flexibility, discipline, and focus while cultivating calmness in our bodies and our minds.

Deep Integrative Stretch

Cultivating a deeper awareness of energetics and alignment in Hatha poses, and integrating Yin Yoga, and Restorative Yoga to focus on deeper muscles, connective tissue, and assist with deep release and relaxation. This class is a great compliment to athletes, a vinyasa based practice, or for those looking to cultivate improved awareness to the body and mind by slowing down on the mat and off. Expect to leave feeling relaxed, renewed, and ready for the upcoming week.

Gentle/Restorative

Gentle/Restorative is a great class for students looking to slow down their practice. It will help you build the foundations for a strong yoga practice. This class will be 45 minutes of Gentle yoga followed by 15 minutes of Restorative. Restorative yoga is often referred to as “active relaxation”. Props are used to support the body during a gentle and passive stretching practice; aiding in the alignment of the body and quieting of the mind. This class will balance the nervous system, deepen the relaxation response, and help to reduce anxiety and stress. After each class, our teacher and health coach Christie Rosen will be available for a short Q&A on various wellness topics. Every student will leave the studio with a free healthy recipe to start their week off right!

Hatha Flow

Hatha Flow focuses on individual alignment and uses breath to create meditation in motion. This challenging slow-flow practice allows students to build strength, flexibility, and peace of mind while exploring the depth of traditional yoga postures. Suitable for all levels of experience.

Heated Vinyasa

A deep, detoxifying, challenging sequence producing physical and mental release. Heat assists the body in becoming more supple and faciliating ease in postures for a broader range of people, including those with injuries or pre-existing conditions. Heat, conciously combined with skillful action and attention, allows the external body (skin), and internal body (muscle, soft tissues, organs) – to open and receive flow of blood and oxygen more readily as well as detoxify through breath and blood flow. Joints will bend and move without agitation, permitting a comfortable range of motion for studnets to ‘let-go’ and be in the moment. Prepare to explore, research, and leave feeling rejuvinated and relaxed. In a gently heated room.

Hot Yoga

Hot Yoga is a heated power yoga class designed to strengthen, stretch and challenge your body! This class will be heated and will also include added humidity to allow the body to become soft, supple and encourage flexibility. You will sweat, so please bring or buy a towel. This class will be geared to all levels and support will be given around modifications. The athletic style of these classes is great for runners, cyclists and athletes of all kinds as well as anyone that wants to challenge themselves through a heated yoga practice. Be sure to drink some water before you come and bring something for afterwards as well.

Power Yoga

Power Yoga is a vigorous, cardio-based approach to the vinyasa style with an emphasis on linking strength with flexibility and breath. Power yoga is adaptable for all levels and is held in a heated room. Bring water and a towel and be prepared to sweat!

$8 Power Hour

$8 Power Hour is a discounted non-heated power yoga class to serve the Charlestown Community at just $8!

Prenatal Yoga

Prenatal Yoga is designed to honor the physical and emotional changes in our body, our baby, and ourselves. This class concentrates on using safe postures and breathing methods to help strengthen the uterus and pelvic muscles and keep the body flexible. Students in this class will focus on breath to connect mother and baby and prepare for a healthy and mindful approach to the challenges of pregnancy, labor, and childbirth.

Vinyasa Flow

Vinyasa Flow is a challenging and vigorous yoga class. The word Vinyasa means “breath-synchronized movement”. This class links postures with breath and movement creating a continuous and challenging flow. Suitable for all levels of experience.

Vinyasa Vibes

Vinyasa Vibes is a Vinyasa Flow class with a rockin’ playlist!

There are so many benefits to yoga.  Here are three you might not know:

- Massaging of the organs - Yoga is perhaps the only form of activity which massages all the internal glands and organs of the body in a thorough manner.

- Increasing lubrication of the joints, ligaments and tendons

- Complete Detoxification By gently stretching muscles and joints as well as massaging the various organs, yoga ensures the optimum blood supply to various parts of the body.

See you on the mat.
