Former Tavern On The Water on Pier 6 to reopen pending renovations - random act of kindness for polite homeless man - MGH Brain Research in the Navy Yard Save The Dates
Welcome to the Navy Yard Views monthly blog. Comment in the Patch http://charlestown patch.com, txt, email or call me #617-424-1988. PEDAL PEDAL PEDAL....... THE HUBWAY.COM "The snow is gone, temps are rising so it’s time to hit the road" was the opening segment on WGBH’s Greater Boston. Emily Rooney was driving around Boston checking out Hub Spots. I decided to pedal. I started to sign up on line but thought to go right to the hub way kiosk and buy a $5/24hr pass. The kiosk was easy to use and the bike was easy to maneuver. I did not have a helmet which felt a little like driving without your seatbelt on. It was fun and I am no doubt going to be a more sympathetic driver. It’s time to get the bikes out of storage. Do we have any cyclers who would like to start a cycling group? On a crisp windy morning Bear and I were out for an early walk and Bear was busy sniffing at a dumpster not responding to my "COME". When I swooped down to grab him by the collar and I heard "I am so sorry". Startled, I looked around and there was no one close by. The voice was coming from inside the dumpster. As I retell this tale people ask if I was scared. I was not scared but I felt a deep sense of sadness. I went to Tedeschi’s and brought the homeless man a cup of hot coffee. Later that morning I shared this story with a friend. A brief conversa-tion ensued about mental illness, brain disorders, PTSD and my friend asked if I was aware of the brain research work taking place at MGH and my an-swer was "not really". Apparently some of the finest research in the world is being conducted right here in the Yard. Interesting topic -would you at-tend a lecture if it could be arranged?
