News in the Yard, the survey squad, beware of the dog officer, do you like the idea of "giving back" and people of interest

Welcome to week 4 of the blog Navy Yard Views.ย  In the past month I have learned a lot about blogging and even more about our neighborhood.ย  With regard to blogging I offer to start the online conversation around topics to include; News in the Yard, fashion, food, unique services and of course real estate.ย  After all, who does not want an update on how the real estate market is rebounding since the lows of the past couple of years.ย  I receive the โ€œlook at me
postcardsโ€ daily and yes I send them too. For Just The Facts check out the 2012 Navy Yard real estate update itโ€™s in the NYV blog published in the Patch.

On the fashion front www.designerscircus.com is currently open and I imagine Lisa Strawbridge has been keeping busy with all the shoppers from Charlestown.ย Marie Richards shared her chicken soup recipe just in time for the chilly weather.ย  Deb Gold offers a unique service www.goldinthehouse.com for anyone that needs help selling a few valuables.ย ย There areย so many interesting people in and around the yard.ย  Stay tuned for more on people of interest in the Navy Yard Views.ย  Are you a person of interest and will you share your expertise?

NEWS reported has included; the anticipated development of parcel 39a into 56 residential units, status on the pilings under Pier 8, a new charity in the Yard, Home Away Boston, which offers free apartments at the Harbor View to families that bring a child to Boston MGH for critical illnesses and the latest news is that we can expect the Boston Police to have a dog officer patrolling the neighborhood - BEWARE!ย  Come see the Dogs in Disguise at the Durty Harryโ€™s Howl-een Party on 10/19 at the Harbor View 6:30-9:30.ย

The AR survey squad has been out and about and they have gleaned a number of things you may already know.ย  People love not like but love living, working and visiting the Yard for its beauty; convenience, diversity, history, availability of parking and its parks are among the top answers.ย  Our neighbors like the idea of โ€œgiving backโ€ in the community โ€“ to date, the recommendations to receive a portion of AR profits in 2013 are: Bunker Hill Associates, CHAD (Charlestown Against Drugs, The Old Charlestown School Girls Association and the YMCA.ย  We are still tallying survey results if you have not completed the brief survey which has been circulating and published in the Patch (go to Navy Yard Views blog) the survey will remain open until October 10th atย

So back to what I have learned from the survey and about blogging;ย perhaps once a week is too often or maybe it's better to be spontanious?ย We get news and scoop from a lot of channels and itโ€™s tough to be first especially when you have a day job!ย Until the next Viewsโ€ฆ.."Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."ย ย  Dr. Seussย
