Super Drink: Kombucha

Super Drink: Kombucha

I saw Emily from Emily In Progress post about Kombucha a few weeks ago. I have also seen this drink posted in less detail on a lot of other blogs. Sunday, when I was checking out at Whole Foods I saw from the corner of my eye the distinct branding of Kombucha. I grabbed it last minute and trusted my blogger friends that It was worth the buy. I bought the NO.7 made from hibiscus, orange peel chamomile and ginger.

Well first off this blonde did NOT read the bottle where it says refrigerate do NOT shake. I saw stuff at the bottom and decided to shake it. Just like soda, it overflowed. At least I was in the kitchen. It tasted slightly fruity, tangy, and bubbly. I sipped it while I was making my Salmon for busy people dinner.

Kombucha is a fermented tea that has bacteria and yeast. The Mayo Clinic explains, "Health benefits attributed to Kombucha tea include stimulating the immune system, preventing cancer, and improving digestion and liver function". Sounds good to me! It cautions people to do their research about the tea before trying it. It is more dangerous to if it is made at home. I feel comfortable buying the Synergy brand and I do not have any adverse reactions to probiotics.

NO.7 has 30 calories per serving 0 from fat, two servings per bottle. I will definitely be buying Kombucha again and I have actually been craving it since Sunday. Now if I could only pronounce it...
