Are you leaving yoga (or any other fitness class) feeling sore, out of balance or in pain? Well you should not feel this way at all. Here's what to do:
1. Talk to you instructor: Every body is different. Let the instructor know before class what works for you.
2. Do Not Continue If It Hurts: This is a big one. It is okay if someone doesn't follow my every instruction in class. What I usually do is walk over to assist them and ask if they are okay or I can simply tell on their face it's too much and they need a rest. Instructors prefer you to "listen to your body" and take a step back.
3. Modify: There is a modification or similar alternative for every pose. Wave the instructor over to help you find it. Also, make sure you have lots of props available!
4. Ditch The Class: If the teacher isn't intelligently sequencing class and helping you with modifications, it's time to pick another class. For example, if you're going into deep back bends with out a warm up or not releasing them afterwards and that is just the teachers style, it's time to go. Of course, TALK to your teacher first to let him or her know what is going on.
