Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts is proud to announce that Charlestown Girl Scouts Lauren Barry sold 500 boxes and Carleigh Schievink sold 525 boxes of Girl Scout cookies this year. The Girl Scout Cookie program allows girls to set goals, learn money management, and develop marketing skills. The activity of selling cookies is directly related to the organization’s purpose of helping all Girl Scouts realize their full potential and become strong, confident and resourceful citizens. Girl Scout troops use funds from the cookie activity to fund a service project or to plan for an exciting trip.
Carleigh Schievink is in her fourth year as a Girl Scout, this year she will bridge to a Junior Girl Scout. She has been a successful Cookie Seller for her troop each and every year and it's truly fitting that she be awarded by Council as a 500 Club Member. Due to Carleigh's efforts in conjunction with the other Scout Cookie Sales her troop took a trip to the New England Aquarium recently to see the new Shark and Ray Tank Touch Tank. Top Secret Scientist of Woburn were brought in at one of the troop meetings for an Environmental Science Program involving different water activities and fun. Carleigh’s troop will also be taking a trip soon to Camp Cedar Hill for Brownie Tent Camping at the end of May.
