Charlestown Man Charged With Knife Attack
Officers arrest John Delaney in connection with incident that sent its victim to the hospital.

Police arrested Charlestown resident John Delaney, Friday, in connection with a stabbing that occurred in Monument Square last week.
Around 1 a.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to 14 Monument Square for a report of an assault with a dangerous weapon. When police got there, they found emergency medical responders treating a victim who had suffered a knife wound.
Officers found a bloody steak knife in the victim’s apartment and blood on the walls leading to her apartment, but the victim declined to cooperate, saying she did not want her attacker arrested.

Officers sent the victim to Massachusetts General Hospital where she received stitches, then closed off and surveyed the crime scene.
Two days later, the victim identified her attacker as John Delaney of 329 Bunker Hill Street.

Later that day, officers spotted Delaney outside his home and placed him under arrest on a warrant charging him with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
