Charlestown Resident Scoring Against Cancer on April 4
Dana-Farber Rink Rats playing charity hockey game to benefit the Jimmy Fund

Andrew Ryan, a Charlestown resident, will be among the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute doctors, researchers, and staff who will play a charity hockey game against the Boston Bruins Alumni to benefit the Jimmy Fund, which supports adult and pediatric cancer care and research at Dana-Farber. The Dana-Farber Rink Rats’ game will be held at 1 p.m., April 4 at Veterans Memorial Rink in Somerville, Mass.
Andrew is a cell processing technician at Dana-Farber. He has played hockey since the age of 9, and currently plays in a weekly men’s league. “What really sets us apart from any team I have played with, is the cause we are playing for is much nobler and more significant then personal or team achievements and goals of past teams,” Andrew says. “It is great feeling to be part of something that could have profound effects on supporting cancer research.”
Andrew has committed to raise $1,000 in order to play in the April 4 game. Game tickets for spectators are $20 for adults and $10 for children, and are available online and at the door. Limited free parking is available. To support Andrew or purchase advance tickets, visit www.jimmyfund.org/rinkrats.
