Charlestown Students Invited to Kick off Summer at Library
Library will be hosting fun events to help kids kick off their vacation and get into the summer reading spirit.

The school year is winding down for students across the Bay State. The Boston Public Library’s Charlestown Branch will be hosting fun events to help kids kick off their vacation and get into the summer reading spirit.
On Friday, June 26, at 1 p.m., kids will have an opportunity to meet children’s book author Dan Gutman. Children ages 6 and up will receive a free, signed copy of one his books. They’ll also be admitted to Gutman’s multimedia presentation about how he discovered his love for books.
Gutman’s most notable works include “My Weird School” series, the “Baseball Card Adventures” series, and the “Homework Machine” series.

On Monday, June 29, at 2 p.m., the library will be hosting a summer celebration in honor of the last day of school.
Kids can partake in face painting of all sorts. Free backpacks, stencils and markers will be given out. Sarah Gardner, a jazz musician, will also be at the event to play music for all to sing and dance along to.
