Charlestown Coach Development Training

Thanks to the support of CHAD, CSAC and MGH, The Charlestown Sports Collaborative is being reintroduced to our Charlestown sports’ programs in order to provide new coaching skills that will be supportive to every athlete, every coach and every team in Charlestown so that they will become the best they can be.

To kick-off this season, we invite you and your fellow coaches to join us on Sunday, April 29th from 7-9 at the Boys and Girls Club for a "Charlestown Coach Development Training" facilitated by the new Sports-Health Coordinator at MGH, Josh Trautwein.

The training will include important information that every coach needs to know, like an overview of the role and responsibilities of coaches in youth sports, including:

  •  Positive Coaching: How can coaches develop character, avoid bullying and create a team of sportsmanship?
  • Physical Safety: What should  coaches know about nutrition, overexercise, sleep, concussions, allergies, asthma and common injuries
  • Other Best Practice Topics: From addiction to abuse, what signs and symptoms of children in distress should coaches identify and report?
  • Resources and Review: Continuing support and training.

Our goal will be to offer the newest coaching skills to our coaches in every sport that they can use this information to build our sports’ programs and create a healthy environment for our children to grow and be successful in sports.

We are asking our presidents, current board members, coaches, and interested parents of each sport to attend this training.
