This Sunday, December 11th at 4:30 at the Charlestown Police Station, the Parks Department will host the FINAL community input meeting for Doherty Park, specifically to discuss the play structures before it goes out to bid.
After seeing the final plans through the CNC (and enjoying the Esplanade Park), community members asked the Parks Department to gather a bit more input (the last meeting was so lightly attended, only 4) about the kind of structures that best reflect the needs of the growing number of 5-12 yearolds especially in light of public health concerns about increased rates of asthma, obesity and unstructured play. As an Olmsted Park and central meeting place, Doherty has a particular history of innovative thinking about public open space.
Cathy Baker-Ecliipse from Parts Department has kindly offered to 1.host another meeting 2. get the meeting in before the January bidding cycle and 3. meet on the weekend to accommodate working families. Please join us.

We hope you will join us and help us spread the word. We would like to have the broadest community input so that it reflects the physical, public health and community needs of the whole neighborhood. A large turnout would be wonderful.
