St. John’s Episcopal Church Begins Godly Play for Children and More on September 9th

Sunday September 9th will be a day of new beginnings as St. John’s Episcopal Church starts its program year.  Worship services are held at 8 am and 10 am, with Christian Education programs for children resuming during the 10 o’clock hour. The Godly Play program for children three years and older invites children to be formed in faith through story telling and creative expression. A new class for older children will include occasional participation in Sunday worship, and all children will join their families for the last part of the worship service. Nursery care is always provided for infants and toddlers during the 10 o’clock service. Registration for all students will take place at 9:45 am in the Parish House. The choir at St. John’s will again provide musical leadership at the 10 o’clock service, and Music Director Douglas Witte invites those who are interested in joining the choir to come to the first rehearsal on Thursday, September 6th at 7:30 in the Parish House. The Children’s Choir, under the direction of Nancy Armstrong, will hold their first rehearsal on Sunday September 23rd at 9:30 in the Parish House. New children are always welcome! Also on September 9th, the Episcopal Church Women will meet after the Coffee Hour. All women are welcome to be a part of this group, which focuses on mission in and beyond the parish and spiritual formation for its members. The Rev. Thomas Mousin, rector of St. John’s, expects this fall to be a period of expanding programs and spiritual growth in the life of the church. “We are welcoming more and more persons into the life of this vibrant community of faith,” he notes, “and in the year to come we will be discovering new ways in which we can serve Charlestown and the world beyond. We welcome all to join us in that endeavor.” For more information about any of these programs, contact the church office at 617-242-1272, or see the church’s website, stjohns02129.org
