Famous Author Dennis Lehane Leaves Boston Library's Board of Trustees
Lehane says decision is not linked to recent missing art scandal.

Dennis Lehane, the author of “Mystic River” and “Gone Girl,” has opted to resign his position as a member of the Boston Public Libray’s Board of Trustees, according to a letter of resignation obtained by the Boston Globe.
The decision to step down is not tied to the recent missing art scandal, according to Lehane. A 1634 Rembrandt etching and a 1504 Durer engraving, both pieces of high value, went missing for a month before suddenly turning up.
In a resignation letter, Lehane wrote he is leaving the library with “great regret and a heavy heart.” He also credited the library with propelling him to a scuccessful writing career. “It showed me a world beyond my own,” Lehane added about his time at the library.

Leanne never referenced the missing art in his letter.
“It has been a singular honor to serve with you on the board,” concluded Lehane.
