A likely intoxicated father and daughter from Saugus assaulted a Transit Police officer at Community College Station, authorities said.

A Saugus father-daughter duo were arrested for a racially charged attack on an off-duty MBTA Transit Police officer, authorities said.
David Muse, 48, and Madison Muse, 22, had an odd bonding experience Friday night at Community College Station, according to police. Around 11:45 p.m., the off-duty officer traveling on an outbound Orange Line train overheard a disturbance on another car and heard an MBTA officials saying to "get off the train."
The alleged instigators were the Muses. As they exited the train, Madison Muse allegedly shouted racial slurs and expletives, at which point the off-duty officer began to record the incident. When the woman noticed this, she attacked the officer, and her father joined, police say. Madison Muse allegedly continued to hurl racial slurs at the off-duty officer.

"This is yet another example Transit Police officers, whether on or off duty, are dedicated to having the safest system as possible," Transit Police Superintendent Richard Sullivan said. "Our officer showed tremendous restraint in the face of such ignorance. We are very grateful he was not seriously injured and we will follow this case throughout the judicial process to ensure the Muses are held responsible for their criminal actions."
