Five Things: Charlestown at the Old South

Today is Monday, March 26. Here are five things you need to know:

1. Warren/Prescott student wins spelling bee. The Boston Herald reports that Sam Lowery, a sixth-grader at the Warren/Prescott, topped 22 other Boston fourth- through eighth-graders. The winning word? Myriad. 

2. Worth another look. This weekend, we posted the that earned a group of Charlestown students a trip to the White House. Take a look.

3. Charlestown at the Old South Meeting House. A reader alerted us to this, so we thought we would pass it on: Charlestown will the subject of the final program in the Old South Meeting House series "Middays at the Meeting House: Exploring Boston's Neighborhoods." The program will take place at Old South Meeting House, 310 Washington Street, Boston, this coming Thursday, March 29, at 12:15 p.m. Admission is $6, but free for any Charlestown resident with identification showing such.

4. Quote of the day. We’re going to guess that this had to do with the we published last week about dog waste in Charlestown, but this quote popped up on a this weekend: “perhaps you should try holding your bladder or bowels whenever you have to go in order to find the right ‘place.’”

5. I guess we didn’t skip spring. After temperatures that seemed surprisingly summer-like, we’ll see temperatures today struggle into the mid 40s. Windy. Partly-cloudy to clear.
