Five Things: We Kick off a Series
And support the swim team at Warren Tavern this weekend.

Today is Friday, Jan. 13. Here are five things you need to know:
1. They’re off the list for the moment. Weather Underground got it yesterday. The site predicted highs near 60, and, unless I mysteriously don’t remember a very-quick warm spell, that didn’t happen. Today’s report comes from Weather.com. The site predicts we’ll see highs approaching 50 with light rain, heavy winds and a chance of snow.
2. Group reduces dropouts through entrepreneurship. At 3 p.m. Thursday, we kicked off a , a California nonprofit that has brought its program to Charlestown. The group targets youths at risk for dropping out and uses an entrepreneurship education to keep them studying into college. We’ll have another installment today, then more early next week.

3. Do you support the swim team? Whether you were a team member when it was The Boys Club, The Boys & Girls Club or at the Community Center, the club invites you to an evening of reminiscing and fun while raising funds for team members selected to compete in Florida at the National Championships. Saturday January 14, 2012 5-8pm at Warren Tavern.
4. Word for the mayor? Danielle Valle Fitzgerald, the mayor's neighborhood liaison in Charlestown, hosts on the second and fourth Friday of the month from 9am to noon. She'll be on the first floor of the library.

5. Photos! Photos! As always, we’re looking for your submission for our Photo of the Day feature. We had some good ones this week, but we’re all out for the moment. If you get yours in before noon, it will likely post today.
