Massachusetts Officials Pass 'Boston Strong' License Plate Bill

Massachusetts lawmakers on Monday gave final approval for the creation of a new "Boston Strong" license plate. 

Legislation for the move was sent to the desk of Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick on Monday, a day before the first anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings, according to the Associated Press. 

The license plates are expected to cost $50 with proceeds, minus administration costs, going to the One Fund Boston, according to the report. The plates will join more than a dozen other specialty plates the state has designed to benefit various causes. 

The bill, "An Act relative to a Massachusetts Boston Strong license plate," aims to also look for the plates to include a design showing support for those affected directly by the bombings last year, according to the report.
